Our Story
Est. 1996

In 1996 we opened the first Leapfrog Neighbourhood Nursery at No 10 Yarborough Road, Southsea. Our family-run business has come a long way since then, after being approached to join the Early Years nationwide Neighbourhood Nurseries initiative we opened our second nursery, No 13 Yarborough Road, awarded the first Ofsted outstanding grade in the city.

In 2013 we opened our most recent nursery in Villiers Road, also achieving outstanding status. Each building is different in it’s layout with unique features. What they have in common is that they provide fresh, fun, safe and welcoming spaces equipped to satisfy a child’s innate curiosity and sense of independence. All within a stone’s throw of central Southsea, it’s common and seafront.

We have grown along the way but our ethos remains unchanged with our vision for children remaining the same.

We remain dedicated in providing exciting and challenging learning adventures for children from 3 months to 5 years old, inspiring them to actively learn through purposeful play.

One of the first nurseries in the country to adopt the HighScope method, our approach integrates fully with the Early Years Foundation Stage extending beyond traditional academic subjects as our highly qualified, experienced professionals engage strategies promoting independence, curiosity, decision making, cooperation, persistence, creativity and problem solving.

Over the years our approach to the care of babies and pre-school children really hasn’t changed at all. Through encouragement, support and guidance children learn at their own pace and in their own style with hands-on experiences ensuring they make the best possible progress ready for their next adventure in learning.
