If my child is unwell are they allowed to attend?

Please do not bring your child into the nursery if they are unwell. Small children do not cope if feeling ill and in a nursery environment illnesses can easily spread. It is our duty as a Nursery to safeguard the children in our care from infectious diseases. If a child is unwell their immune system may be lower which may result in them picking up further ailments unnecessarily.

At Leapfrog we realise that all children can have minor illnesses, such as minor coughs and colds from time to time that may not prevent them from attending. In these circumstances, if the illness is very minor, nursery staff will usually allow children to attend, depending on how the child feels on the day and in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, which state:A child can return to nursery 5 hours after a dose of Calpol and 24 hours following a dose of a newly prescribed medicine”.

However, the Nursery is also aware that children can have illnesses from time to time that would prevent them from attending. It is therefore the policy of the Nursery that children on some occasions should be kept at home. This is particularly important in the case of any infectious illnesses that might be spread to other children.
